A father-son duo were killed on Thursday as the car they were travelling in caught fire after falling into a gorge in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand while the mother and the second son were struggling for lives after the accident.
According to the information provided by the Chamoli Police, Arvind Tripathi and Anita Tripathi, along with their sons, Anant Tripathi, 22, and Ambuj Tripathi, 25, had gone to Anita’s maternal home at Vishalpaw Village in Pokhari area of Chamoli. The accident occured when they were returning to their home in Dehradun.

While the Tripathi family was on their way back home in Dehradun the car suddenly went out of control and fell into a gorge on Gopeshwar-Pokhari Road. The car caught fire immediately after the fall leaving Arvind and Anant charred to death.
Anita and Ambuj sustained serious burns and were immediately taken to the government hospital for medical help. According to the police, Anita was struggling for her life and Ambuj too was admitted in the hospital in serious condition.
Arvind Tripathi, an executive engineer (EE) in the state Irrigation Department, was posted in Dehradun. They had come to the village to celebrate Diwali. Anita, who had her maternal home not very far away, had gone to meet her family before returning to Dehradun.
